The root of the problem is the severe and draconian SSI income and resource rules. At least put things into context – in the absence of much needed reform of these rules, which would allow all families and individuals to benefit, not just those with income, the ABLE account helps. But it misses so many people who need the ability to save more of their money than $2,000 without getting all kinds of complicated.
